It’s That Time of Year

When purchasing a live tree be sure to check for freshness. An easy way to do this is to bang the already cut tree on the ground. If you lose a lot of needles it is probably best to choose a different tree.

Be sure to give water to the tree daily.

Do not leave your fresh tree up for more than two weeks. The tree begins to dry out and can become a fire hazard.

Keep your holiday decorations at least three feet away from any heat source.

Before hanging your holiday lights, check for broken bulbs and loose or frayed wires.

Never overload outlets or extension cords.

Use fire retardant decorations.

Do not leave candles unattended.

This is also a great time to check the batteries in your smoke alarms.

With all the hustle and bustle of the season, do not forget to put the safety of your family and your property first.

Be ready, be safe and be prepared.
