Keeping it Secure

Before making the investment of a security system for your home or business it is best to do a bit of research. While I was making a few inquiries about writing this blog I found myself inundated with information. After sifting through the multiple flyers and articles I narrowed it down to a few bits of info that will be a good start for anyone looking into taking the step into a security system.

Renters:

For those folks who rent a business, home or apartment, I wanted to talk a little about renters insurance and the importance of having a policy.

Renters insurance is called an HO-4 policy. When talking to your agent here are a few things you will want to ask him or her regarding your policy. Of course you will need to know what the policy covers. There are some standards for HO-4 policies, but if you have something of great value say an enormous antique diamond ring, you may want to discuss whether or not you should get a rider for the policy to cover your specialty pieces.

Burglaries:

I was recently speaking to someone who had gone on vacation and came home to a disaster. Someone had broken into her home and stolen everything of value. Her jewelry, electronics, even her silver flatware had been burglarized. When I asked her about her homeowners insurance. She said her jewelry was only covered for $5000.00 and that is only if she can show proof of ownership.
